Ads

You might see on the left that there's an Ad Bar now. Basically I like FireFox as a Web Browser and a friend forwarded me a link to the Explorer Destroyer website.

I started messing around with this and ended up signing up AdSense, because it's required as part of promoting Firefox the Explorer Destroyer way.

You might find something interesting to click there, but because it's based on the content of the page, more often than not, you'll probably have to be up the duff to see anything interesting there.

What's up, Doc?

Libby went to the hospital today to discuss the results of the ultrasound. I might have mentioned before that there is no discussion at Calvary Hospital as to whether Jelly Bean will be a boy or a girl, and to tell the truth, Lib* and I are not that interested - a healthly child is far more important. The ability to spell "healthy" is probably up there, too.

So we turn to other things, naturally.

I didn't go to this meeting, but the only thing of note that I recall from Lib*'s remarks about the appointment was that the baby was in the top 10% in size for the current stage of Lib*'s pregnancy, which is 21 Weeks (and one day).

Given that Jelly Bean is now more than halfway through it's initial imprisonment, and also given that it's one massive kid, I think it's time we retire "Jelly Bean" as its name and bring on "Little Unit".

Hello, Little Unit. Can't wait to meet you.

More Ultrasounds

Today we went down to Calvary Hospital again to have the third ultrasound on Jelly Bean.

It was more interesting for me today, but probably more so because of the technology. The geek in me couldn't help it when I started this post, so I trawled the internet and found the actual ultrasound model, manufactured by Philips. Nice find, Sherlock. Nice.

It would appear that Jelly Bean is progressing quite normally and the ultrasonista (or whoever she is) suggested that everything is OK. As you can see from the ultrasound image, the Jelly Bean is probably not so much the Jelly Bean anymore.

How does it get out?

It obviously prefers the organs on the other side of Lib*'s body at the present time. From what I understand, we no longer blast the developing soul with sound waves until it's about two or three years old, but in frustration rather than anticipation.

How about that eBay, huh?

Well, I was tooling around on eBay last week and noticed that there was an auction for some baby furniture that was about to finish. On a whim, I made a bid and incredibly, I won it! Not only that, the furniture was Boori. (Incidently if you visit that site with an ancient machine that does not have the appropriate version of flash, you are urged to "upgdare" your Flash Player). Whatever.

I know next to nothing about baby furniture and was purely motivated by the prospect of getting all the nursery kitted out in one fell swoop. I am told however, that Boori baby furniture is reasonably sought after by those in the know. I was told this by someone in the know - Lib*.

I made contact with the seller (a lovely lady named Diana) and I arranged to pick the furniture up today. It was this weekend that my computer decided absent itself as to whether it was docked or not and refused to power up at home. Apart from having to head back to the office to get Diana's details and with Mikey's misgivings about EVER getting to Sydney in anything like enough time, the journey was good fun and Mikey's company was awesome as usual.

Of course, I had no idea about the size of the stuff and frankly the 6x4 we hauled up there was not going to cut it. We ended throwing as much as we could in the stationwagon, but even so, this did not leave much room over in the tray.

It did, however, leave a look on Mikey's face which roughly translated to "Fleur's gonna kill me if I can't fit the stuff from Ikea amongst this lot".

As I could fully understand the look of consternation on Mikey's face.

We had a brief chat with Diana - it was clear to me that she was quite sentimental about the furniture after having raised three of her own children with it - and then we were on our way.

When we got to Ikea - rather circuitously and I'd rather not talk about that - we dismantled as much as we could and it turned out everything was going to fit just fine.

After getting all the stuff home, I re-assembled it all. I looked in awe at what was in front of me. This furniture is beautiful.

More importantly, its presence is starting to reinforce the reality of my life. We are making space for someone new - brand new. In around five months, I am going to be a father.

If you're reading this Diana, it looks great and it will be with us for a while, I'm sure.

The Lurgy

Lib* and I have been struck down a little some head cold/flu kind of thing. Naturally, we were both concerned about the effect that it may have on the little unit.

Lib went to the doctor and they said that she probably has a mild case of flu. Thankfully, it's not that dangerous to the kid, but it can make recovery for the host a lengthy one, perhaps three times longer than the usual recuperation.

Happy Birthdayish, kinda.

A few of us got together to hold a Birthday party for Jess and Lib*. Lib*s birthday is not until the end of April but as the weather is starting to turn, Jess and Lib* decided to hold a joint party. As Jess was intent on having a birthday week, she had a get together last Monday and got all her gifts then.

Libby got her present at the party yesterday. It was beautiful Oroton baby bag. Dont bother clicking on the link as I couldn't find it there. I just like hyperlinking the crap out of my posts. It's really nice, and it's going to outclass me by some margin as I tool around with trackydacks, coffee stained tshirt, safety thongs and a bemused look.

In other news, Jess destroyed the pinata I made on the first attempt. I thought you were meant to only have one swing per turn. Clearly that's not the way it's played around here. Blindfold, Jess goes berserk. Pinata dead.
